Abstract
The basic design principles of a gas laser tube with special requirements are considered. Details are given on construction technology, performance and applications. Attention is directed particularly to the utilization of a selected thermal electron emitter suitable for compact and stable gas discharge tubes. More general criteria for correct cathode operation in a gas discharge are also described.
