Abstract
A critical enumeration of the experimental criteria which make a molecule most suitable for triplet-triplet absorption studies using steady-state excitation is given, and methods for optimizing these criteria are delineated. An analysis of the competitive effect on triplet-triplet observability, of increasing the strength of the spin-orbital perturbation for two independent paths in the system, is presented. A comparison of theory is made with some recent data in the literature on environmental spin-orbital perturbation of triplet-triplet absorption, for both steady-state and flash excitation methods.
