Abstract

The aim of the present study was to develop criteria for quantitative assessment of the functional state of the circulatory apparatus and physical performance in hypertensive patients according to the indices of cardio- and hemodynamics without ergometric study. The necessity of this study was dictated by the following reasons: firstly, the average hemodynamic pressure increases as the disease progresses, and during physical activity its growth slightly outpaces the increase of heart rate. Secondly, reflecting peripheral vascular permeability, it determines postload and left ventricular myocardial tension. Thirdly, dissociation of proper and actual values of left ventricular isovolumic contraction period (with increasing actual) increases with disease progression. Fourthly, the formation of hypertrophy, disturbance of metabolic processes in myocardium, development of cardiosclerosis lead to prolongation of asynchronous myocardial contraction period, prolongation of which was found by many authors in different stages of hypertension.
