Abstract

model merges already existing technology acceptance models with specially developed hypotheses concerning the adoption of mobile health apps by the elderly. It gives an overview of the main influencing factors. Results of the own survey will be available in 9/2013. Conclusions It already exists a huge number of diabetes apps. But the poor user-friendliness, needs-orientation and adaptability hamper the acceptance and adoption by the elderly. Therefore a greater involvement of patients and physicians should take place. The project InnoMedTec is funded by the ESF. Key messages Currently available mobile applications for diabetes diagnoses and treatment consider the special needs and capabilities of the elderly insufficiently. A greater involvement of affected elderly patients and attending physicians has to occur during diabetes app development. More needs-orientation and usability testing is necessary.
