Abstract
An introduction to the journal is presented in which the author discusses various reports published within the issue including one by Robin Bloch on urban and economic development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, one by Cristina Fernandes and Andreas Novy on the impact of the 2008 global economic recession on Brazil, and one by Alan Harding, Michael Harloe, and James Reese on thefuture of urban renewal in Manchester, England.
