Abstract
Criminal Acts at Sea. The most popular novels and movies with whom we grew up, have been shown by pirates mostly as romantic adventurers, rather than as bloodthirsty robberies and killers. One of the reasons for this is that many of the pirates throughout history have had the status of national heroes (like Francis Drake and Henry Morgan) which has affected the distorted view of actual pirates.
