Abstract

The focus of this chapter is crime response, which occurs when police are mobilized or initiate responses to situations involving actual or potential crime and disorder. The interactions we examine include police interactions with PMI who are victims of crime and/or suspects in crime and/or disorder calls. And, recognizing that much of what police actually do entails simply trying to avert potential problems, we also look at how PMI can variously become the subjects of disorder complaints and possible crime calls (as potential victims and/or suspects).KeywordsPolicingMental healthCrimeDisorderVictimization
