Abstract

Introduction: Postoperative crepitus is a rare finding following laparotomy cases. The potential diagnoses for this condition can vary from benign to high morbidity and mortality findings. Case Report: In this case report, we discuss a case of a patient who developed non-specific abdominal pain who ultimately found to have crepitus on physical examination postoperative day 1. Subsequent computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a rare postoperative subcutaneous emphysema. Although these findings are infrequent after laparotomy, it is important to note that abdominal and incisional pain are commonly experienced symptoms after surgery. Conclusion: This report aims to enhance postoperative care for patients who have undergone laparotomy.
