Abstract

Apparatus is briefly designed for conducting creep tests of materials which require protection from atmospheric oxidation, using rhomb and mirror extensometers of the kind widely used for high sensitivity creep tests in air. The extensometers are totally enclosed in a chamber which can be evacuated and filled with an inert gas, and the mirrors are viewed through a window. Provision is made for re-setting the mirrors as required during the course of a test.
