Abstract

In this study, 32 groups of reinforced concrete axial compression columns were examined using creep tests and axial compression failure tests after creep. The reinforced concrete columns were of strength grade C30–C60, load level 0.09–0.38, and total reinforcement ratio 0.79–2.01%. This study investigated the effects of the axial compressive strength of concrete under loading, the load level, and the total reinforcement ratio of longitudinal compression steel bars on the creep and post-creep mechanical properties of reinforced concrete short columns under axial compression. A formula for calculating the creep of reinforced concrete short columns under axial compression is proposed. A formula for calculating the peak compressive strain of reinforced concrete short columns under axial compression considering the effect of creep is established.
