Abstract

The utilization of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) in producing new concrete is an effective way of reducing waste materials and natural aggregate consumption. In this paper, a new mix proportion method called the water reduction method (WRM), for recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) containing coarse and fine recycled aggregate is proposed. The equivalent mortar volume (EMV) method was also used for RAC containing only coarse recycled aggregate. The creep, shrinkage and mechanical properties of the RACs made by the new proposed method and EMV were investigated and compared with natural aggregate concrete. The method was also examined for the predetermined alkali activated slag specimens. The results showed that the new proposed mix proportion method is more reliable than conventional method in terms of mechanical and long-term properties.
