Abstract
The first part of the article provides an overview of the main features of the Single Resolution Mechanism, with a particular reference to the relationship between its purposes and italian banking framework's ones. The second part examines the possible impact of the SRM on the rights of depositors and other bank creditors. The study highlights that the new bank resolution regime involves a radical change in the bank creditor decision-making process and a critical challenge for regulators.
