Abstract

Nurses and clinical practitioners need to identify evidence-based resources and treatment opportunities for patients who suffer from chronic pain. Literature supports the biopsychosocial model to enhance comfort & improve function for patients with chronic pain. Behavioral interventions such as CBT can be found in current clinical practice guidelines and pain management professional organization clinical recommendations. These strategies are under-prescribed due to a dearth of pain psychologists and lack of clinical provider time to provide therapeutic applications.
