Abstract

A rational reconstruction of semantics and memory for creative metaphors requires flexibility in a semantic hierarchy and multiple activation of nodes in semantic memory. Semantic features expressed in fuzzy sets allow for changes in meaning, while memory viewed as both a fuzzy set-theoretic and a network allows semantic flexibility to be reconstructed in memory. Although the creative process remains largely hidden, motivation can be found in emotion and mnemonics.
