Abstract
Resistivity studies of Bi(Pb)SrCaCuO systems at temperatures down upto 77 K indicate that decrease in oxygen content decreases their room temperature resistance and improves the superconducting behaviour. A mechanism for creation of additional holes due to transfer of charge from BiO to CuO layers is proposed. The role of lead in these systems is also explained on the basis of the proposed mechanism.
