Abstract

Resistivity studies of Bi(Pb)SrCaCuO systems at temperatures down upto 77 K indicate that decrease in oxygen content decreases their room temperature resistance and improves the superconducting behaviour. A mechanism for creation of additional holes due to transfer of charge from BiO to CuO layers is proposed. The role of lead in these systems is also explained on the basis of the proposed mechanism.
