Abstract

Treating young children who have experienced trauma can be a daunting task, specifically when considering the wide range of developing abilities in young children. Preschool post‐traumatic stress disorder treatment (PPT) (see Scheeringa et al., 2012) is a trauma treatment that utilizes the same principles as trauma‐focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF‐CBT) (see Cohen et al., 2006) but is modified to be developmentally appropriate for children ages 3–6 years who have at least some memory of the trauma and are being supported by a nonoffending caregiver.
