Creating ontology-driven repositories based on topic maps

Abstract

This tutorial will provide the participants with substantial knowledge about topic maps, their concepts, their application, and how to develop topic maps. Designing an ontology is an integral and important aspect of every Topic Map application. Practical examples will be used in applying ontology modeling based on task requirements. Furthermore, a workshop-like interactive creation of an example topic map will make the tutorial valuable for the attendees. By the end of the tutorial, the participants will learn how to apply topic maps to their own information resources and will be able to use and edit topic maps based on the freely available Topic Maps editor, TM4L.
