Abstract

A wide-ranging study of innovative local library, museum and archive services across and beyond Europe resulted in the development of a new model of local cultural services from a user perspective. This model is presented here, followed by an analysis of the implications for research and development across these sectors. The work, part of the Cultural Applications: Local Institutions Mediating Electronic Resources (CALIMERA) Action, was funded by the European Commission and involved partners in 42 different countries.
