Abstract

Chad Dembski is a founding member and the current artistic director of the OOmph!! Group, based in Toronto. He trained at Studio 58 in Vancouver and has worked with many of Toronto’s alternative theatre companies, including Crow’s Theatre, DNA, Platform 9 and Theatre Sans Pretexte. Since its inception in 1997, the OOmph!! Group has produced four shows, of which the latter three were directed by Chad: The Day Room by Don Delillo (The Space, 1997); A Hunting of the Snark, adapted by Paul Herwig from the poem by Lewis Carroll (Poor Alex, 1998); Aureola Part 1: Prologue (Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, 1998); and Me@sure 3.1 (Toronto Fringe Festival, 1999; remounted at the Rivoli nightclub in 2000). Chad is currently working on a new OOmph!! Group production entitled Inertia, a fusion adaptation of Chekhov’s The Three Sisters and Sartre’s No Exit.
