Abstract

AbstractAn analysis of patterns of ontogenetic ossification of cranial elements in the northern alligator lizard, Elgaria coerulea, was conducted and those patterns are described here both from the point of view of individual elements and from the point of view of the overall pattern of ossification of the skull. Ossification in Elgaria is then compared with patterns in other squamates.
