Abstract

Moffitt Cancer Center is 1 of 100 hospitals across the United States and the only one in Florida selected by the John A. Hartford Foundation and Institute for Health Care Improvement (IHI) to participate in the first wave of the Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) initiative [1]. The demand for health care among older adults is expected to grow tremendously as the population of over the age of 65 is projected to double during the next four decades. Half of all cancers occur in people age 70 and older; 60% of all cancer deaths occur in this population.
