Abstract

(Anaesthesia. 2023; 78:288–293) Global warming and climate change are the most concerning crises that our world currently faces. The National Health Service (NHS) has worked to reduce its overall carbon footprint as a primary health care company. There are growing concerns about the effects that nitrous oxide has on the environment. It is estimated that 40% of all nitrous oxide emissions are due to human impact, and nitrous oxide use for labor analgesia increases those emissions. Catalytic cracking has been introduced to improve the impact that nitrous oxide has on our environment.
