Abstract

This paper presents the image-based measurement for a set of reinforced concrete (RC) wall experiments. The experiments were carried out at the multi-axial testing system (MATS) in National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) in Taipei, Taiwan. Four specimens of RC walls with different aspect ratios, tie spacing, axial forces were subjected to displacement controlled cyclic loadings. Image measurement were employed to estimate the major displacements, deformations, and crack distributions. The measurement verifies the crack development and the failure mechanisms at different specimens. In addition to the measurement results of the experiments, this paper introduces the procedures of the image-based measurement, as well as the software tools developed in this work. The measurement procedures include camera calibration, image tracking of major points on the specimens, three-dimensional triangulation, image projection and rectification, deformation analysis, and crack analysis. The crack pattern and their opening widths of several selected time points during the experiment are briefly displayed.
