Abstract

Functionally graded materials are useful materials that can be used in significant applications, specially under thermal loading conditions, that consist of combination of two (or more) different materials change continuously or in step-wise style. The enrichment terms, characteristic formulation, sub-triangular function nearby cracks, and revisionist support domain are utilized in mesh free method to simulate the crack analysis in problems under thermal loading. The mesh free method, extended element free Galerkin method, is applied for the first time in these relevant crack problems. The applying of extrinsic enrichments at the crack tip generates minimizing for the stress field singularities near crack tip. As well, to evaluate SIFs for cracked FGMs, an interaction integral technique that adopted with the incompatibility formulation is applied. A good agreement is achieved by comparing with the results of other reference literature that used other numerical methods.
