Abstract

This paper presents a high gain planar Substrate Integrated Waveguide slot antenna array which is fed through an optimized Coplanar Waveguide (CPW)-to-SIW transition. The design offers promising response for applications in K band automotive radars at 24 GHz. A back-to-back CPW to SIW transition has been analyzed followed by integration of the transition with the slot array antenna. The effect of aluminum packaging has also been simulated and it has been observed that the gain is slightly increased from 9.4 dBi to 10.9 dBi by adding aluminum walls.
