Abstract

A Koch Snowflake shaped microstrip terahertz antenna for superwideband spatial diversity applications is proposed in this paper. It consist a second iterative Koch snowflake radiator and modified coplanar waveguide ground planes. The antenna element has an operating frequency spectrum of 1.03–14.8 THz (for S11≤-10 dB) with an overall footprint of 820 μm × 500 μm. The operating bandwidth and dimensions of spatial diversity MIMO antenna are 1.06–14.2 THz and 820 μm × 1000 μm respectively. The interport isolation for MIMO antenna is less than -23 dB across the wideband of operation. Both MIMO element and MIMO antenna have distorted omnidirectional radiation patterns. The peak gain is 11.2 dB. The values of MIMO performance parameters are also acceptable.
