Abstract
Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) includes multiple sections and categories of codes to report services. However, when a service is provided in a manner that is not accurately described by a specific code, unlisted procedure codes are reported. CPT 2024 brings new guidelines for appropriate use of unlisted procedure codes. This article reviews the guidelines for reporting unlisted procedure codes, including the following topics: Identifying and locating unlisted procedure codes Reporting unlisted procedure codes in conjunction with Category I and/or Category III codes Reporting multiple unlisted codes Using modifiers with unlisted procedure codes
