Abstract

During the interactions of olefins with [CpMO(CO) 3] 2 or [CpMO(CO) 3] 2/NO and EtAlCl 2 in chlorobenzene, a series of alkene products, alkylation products and oligomers was observed. A relationship exists between the products formed and the reaction temperature. At temperatures below 120°C dimers and oligomers formed. At higher temperatures metathesis and isomerization of olefins and alkylation of the solvent by short chain olefins occurred. Oligomerization reached a maximum yield at 120°C.
