Abstract
We discuss the dipole electric moment of the electron ( d e) as a test of CP violation. In models where CP violation comes from V - A W ± exchange, d e, like the neutron dipole moment, is very small. In models which incorporate more than one very heavy (∼ M W) Dirac neutrinos, it may be barely observable. But in model a with CP violation induced by a horizontal (family) gauge interaction, d e can be as large as 10 −27 e cm.
