Cp*FeP 6MoCp*]: A dinuclear complex with a P 4 and a P 2 ligand

Abstract

The cothermolysis of [Cp*Fe( η 5-P 5)] ( 1) and [Cp*Mo(CO) 3CH 3] ( 2) gives [Cp*(OC)Mo( μ- η 2:2-P 2) 2FeCp*] ( 3), which on reaction with P 4 yields [Cp*MoP 6FeCp*] ( 4). Its X-ray crystal structure determination reveals, for the ‘P 6’ ligand, a μ- η 4:2-P 4 as well as a μ- η 2:2-P 2 co-ordination type.
