Digital communications and social media have transformed daily life, with both attendant benefits and detriment. With a smart cell phone, we now hold in our hands the ability to almost immediately access huge stores of information. We can also use these devices to communicate with each other at almost any time and place, including the toilet. We can rapidly send text messages with attached photos and with good quality.
