Abstract

Background: The focus of this study was on any COVID-19 vaccines adverse effects, as well as perceptions about the vaccines. Among many, Covishield Covid-19 (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19) and Covaxin COVID-19 (BBV152) vaccines are some of the vaccines which have reached their advanced stages. These two brands are very common in India, and the majority of the already vaccinated populations in India comes from these two brands. Methods: It was a quantitative systemic randomized retrospective cohort kind of a study where only healthcare practitioners were targeted, especially the prescribers. Survey questionnaire was used as a tool of collecting the data from the voluntarily recruited participants. Results: Among the participants, males (106) were more than females (98). Different healthcare professionals: 100 (49.0%) were Physician/doctors; 36 (17.6%) were Pharmacists; 27 (13.2%) were Nurses; 23 (11.3%) were Medical Lab. Technicians and 18 (8.8%) were others. 123 participants reported not been affected by any side effects after taking the COVID-19 vaccines, in contrast, 81 participants reported to have experienced adverse effects after had taken the vaccines. Conclusion: This study showed that post-vaccination, of both first and second dose, adverse effects were mild to moderate, non-serious and non-life threatening.
