Abstract

This article aims to elucidate the relationship between COVID-19 and cardiovascular diseases, correlating the pathophysiology and biological cycle of the SARS-Cov-2 virus and damage to the heart pump. The research was carried out using platforms such as PubMed and Scielo, in order to base a narrative review on the subject. The pathologies analyzed are cited in much of the literature on the subject as the main ones related to infection by the virus: Acute Coronary Syndrome, hypertension, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pericarditis, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary thromboembolism. At the end of the study, it was proven that cardiovascular diseases are decisive in the clinical situation and prognosis of COVID-19 patients.
