Abstract

The chapter includes an analysis of the Argentine covert military and intelligence operations in Central America. It indicates reasons for Argentine interest in the subregion and elaborates on factors which led to the development of a decision-making situation. Argentine secret activity is discussed therein both before and after the triumph of the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua. The chapter also addresses Argentina’s cooperation with the United States in the field of training contras units, aimed to overthrow the revolutionary Nicaraguan regime.
