Coverage of gender violence against women in two Argentine newspapers. A comparison with the Colombian case

espanolEsta propuesta constituye la tercera fase de una investigacion sobre la relacion comunicacion-genero, que esta vez se baso en una observacion de medios sobre la mujer y la violencia de genero de la cual es objeto. Se busco poner a prueba 8 de las 13 categorias halladas en el caso colombiano en la primera fase (Ordonez et al., 2016a) y establecer si se replican en la prensa nacional argentina. Tambien se busco identificar nuevas categorias emergentes que, de igual manera justifiquen, validen o minimicen la violencia de genero contra la mujer. El ano de observacion fue el 2018 y se baso en un enfoque de corte cuantitativo que permitio concluir que las categorias detectadas en la prensa colombiana estan tambien presentes en la prensa argentina, aunque en menor medida que en Colombia. Tambien se detectaron nuevas categorias (como la “exaltacion de la violencia sexual”, como si loimportante fuera la violencia de este tipo y no el homicidio mismo). EnglishThis proposal constitutes the third phase of an investigation on the communication-gender relationship, which this time was based on a media observation on women and gender violence, which is the subject of. It was sought to test 8 of the 13 categories found in the Colombian case in the first phase (Ordonez et al., 2016a) and establish whether they are replicated in the Argentine national press. We also sought to identify new emerging categories that, in the same way, justify, validate or minimize gender violence against women. The year of observation was 2018 and was based on a quantitative approach that allowed us to conclude that the categories detected in the Colombian press are present in the Argentine press, although to a lesser extentthan in Colombia. New categories were also detected (such as the “Exaltation of Sexual Violence”, as if the important thing was the violence of this typeand not the homicide itself).
