Abstract

Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies are a set of solutions for wireless communication of low power networks. These technologies emerge as a solution to the need to communicate to the thousands of devices, that Internet of Things (IoT) requires for multiple applications. One of these solutions is LoRa technology which is characterized by being an open standard that has the requirements that IoT networks need to operate. In other words, its deployment implies a lower cost compared to other technologies, it also offers to cover large distances with low energy consumption and operates in free use bands. LoRa technology is one of the best solutions for the implementation of IoT communication networks. Specifically in this article will be presented the analysis of performance and coverage that a LoRaWAN network offers for the application of a lighting monitoring system located on a smart campus.
