Abstract

ON THE COVER: [Benthic unicells plus abandoned cell walls following zoospore release of the new marine, sand‐dwelling genus Chrysoparadoxa australica gen. et sp. nov. (Chrysoparadoxophyceae) photographed with differential interference contrast optics. Two chloroplasts are U‐shaped at the ends of the cells and then split into 2 lobes. Ultrastructure shows the chloroplasts to be surrounded by only 2 membranes, a novel feature within the heterokonts. Photo credit: R Wetherbee. Vol. 55, No. 2, pp. 257–278]
