The image is taken from Manfredi and Abbati et al., and developed through cytoChain, an innovative application for the analysis of high-dimensional flow cytometry data. CytoChain refined the COVID-19 dataset analysis published by Neumann et al. (DOI 10.1002/cti2.1204), underlining previously missed differences among COVID-19 patients. A novel set of surface markers was thus uncovered, indicating how a T cell subset expressing multiple inhibitory receptors is more abundant in severe COVID-19 cases.
