Abstract

The transformation of a stable molecule into a reactive one is challenging and usually requires several steps. However, activation in combination with an appropriate organometallic reagent makes it possible to achieve in one step. In their Communication on page 130 ff., Pei-Qiang Huang et al. report a general, practical, and direct transformation of secondary amides into ketones by activation with triflic anhydride and a subsequent organocerium-based deaminative alkylation.
