Abstract

Gold nanospheres with diameters precisely controlled in the range of 5–30 nm were synthesized using a successive, seed-mediated growth, as reported by Younan Xia et al. in their Full Paper on page 792 ff. The gold nanospheres were found to self-assemble into dimers, larger aggregates, and wavy nanowires when they were diluted to different volumes with deionized water.
