Abstract
Single olsalazine molecules can be self-assembled into nanoparticles by the tumor-overexpressed enzyme furin following a 2-cyanobenzothiazole (CBT)-mediated biocompatible click condensation reaction and π–π stacking, as demonstrated by Ishan Barman, Jeff W. M. Bulte et al. in their Communication on page 3923. These intracellular nanoparticles provide a differential Raman scattering signature, allowing highly specific imaging of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.
