Abstract

The cover picture shows a cocrystal with repeated 8-F-atom unit as basic structural motif, which is assembled based on combination of bifurcated CI···N···IC σ-hole bond and antiparallel double π-hole···F bonds by 1,2-diiodotetrafluorobenzene and acridine. The concepts on the σ-hole and π-hole bonds are suggested based on the physical framework, the molecular surface electrostatic potential, which can be considered as another nomenclative system of fashionable halogen/chalcogen/pnicogen/silicogen bonds and anion-π interaction, respectively. The combination of the two bonds or together with other weak interactions could play a key role in assembling function materials, molecular recognition and design of drugs and so on. More details are discussed in the article by Jin et al. on page 1279–1284.
