Abstract

Clip-off chemistry represents a new synthetic methodology based on the rational cleavage of reticular materials. In their Research Article (e202111228), Inhar Imaz, Daniel Maspoch et al. report that in reticular materials, the cleavage of bonds can be quantitative and selective, effective both in solid-phase and solution-phase chemistry, and can occur in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal fashion. This chemistry is first used to synthesize two 3D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and a metal-organic macrocycle from precursor reticular materials.
