The cavity of the supramolecular assembly is penetrated by four dimethylformamide molecules (red; space-filling representation). The cluster formation is driven by symmetry number incommensurate lock-and-key interactions. More about this concept and its application is reported by Raymond et al. on pages 1084ff.
