Abstract

A linear array of nanoparticles can be generated by the use of an appropriate template. The cover picture shows a TEM image of such a 1D array of gold nanoparticles, aligned by the use of the β‐1,3‐glucan polysaccharide schizophyllan, which adopts a triple‐helical structure in aqueous solution. In their Communication on page 2030 ff., S. Shinkai and co‐workers describe how the hydrophobic inner cavity of the helix hosts the hydrophobic nanoparticles and aligns the guests along its length.
