Abstract

Southern corn leaf blight (SCLB), caused by Bipolaris maydis (B. maydis), is one of the most devastating diseases aff ecting maize production. Zhang et al. demonstrate that a cytosol‐localized ascorbate peroxidase 1 (ZmAPX1) confers SCLB resistance by reducing H2O2 accumulation and activating the JA‐mediated defense signaling pathway. The cover image shows that ZmAPX1 provides a barrier for maize against B. maydis infection (Page 1196–1211).
