Abstract

Larry L. Hench, a wonderful person, researcher and scholar in whose memory this issue of the International Journal of Applied Glass Science is dedicated. He was thought by many to be a man for all seasons; a classical renaissance person, and a wonderful ambassador for all involved in glass science and healthcare. He represented all that is best in science and engineering and leaves a legacy exemplifying vision, creativity, achievement, kindness, and dedication to the causes for the betterment of mankind.
