Abstract
“Light is a unifying symbol that signifies wisdom and excites the imagination across the world,” so said Ban Ki‐moon, Secretary General, the United Nations, at the opening ceremony of the International Year of Light and Light‐based Technologies, in Paris, January 19th, 2015. The goal of this world‐wide endeavor is to expand cooperation, increase awareness, and promote our understanding of the importance of light in virtually all branches of science and modern society.
