Abstract

The cover image by Raffaele Pugliese & Fabrizio Gelain shows an AFM image representing supramolecular hydrogel based on LKLK12 self-assembling peptide cross-linked with SM(PEG)24. The cross-linked SAPs feature a tight and clustered bundles network of β-sheet-containing nanofibers with tunable stiffness over the range of 5–60 kPa and stress relaxation ranging from 90 to 150 s. The authors demonstrate that SM (PEG)24 cross-linking specifically reacts with LKLK12 assembled nanostructures and allows for precise tuning of their biomechanical properties, spanning the range of G' found in the human central nervous system, pancreas, liver, lung, and skin tissues. Their findings provide a new strategy helpful for soft tissue regeneration. DOI: 10.1002/app.51759
