Abstract
Ionic aluminum (Al3+) has been well known to be rhizotoxic to most plant species on acidic soils. In this issue, Sun et al. (984‐997) report that Al3+ has become an essential element for tea plant growth, through maintenance of DNA integrity in root meristematic cells.
